Livable Streets Hosts Ride to Improve Boston Transportation

Calling all bikers, walkers, and families! On September 12, 2015 Livable Streets will host Tour de Streets, a fun-filled bike ride, scenic walk, and BBQ that benefits the Livable Streets Alliance’s mission to rethink urban transportation.

Livable Streets Alliance believes that streets are valuable public spaces that have the potential to connect communities in a safe and healthy way. Through advocacy, education, and strategic partnerships, Livable Streets strives to make Boston more accessible and user-friendly through safe, convenient, and affordable transportation that balances transit, walking, and biking with automobiles.

Tour de Streets was established in 2010 to honor avid cyclist and beloved teacher Bob Zeeb, who died from a tragic bicycle accident. Today, the event celebrates loved ones, encourages life-long riding, and raises money to promote more livable streets in Boston and beyond.

Sponsored by Jason & Fischer, Avison Young, and athenahealth, this year’s Tour de Streets will include a 27-mile scenic bike ride; a 4-mile bike ride for kids and families; and a 3-mile walk along the Charles River. The event will end with live music, lawn activities, and a celebratory BBQ lunch at The Arsenal on the Charles.

All riders, walkers, and BBQ-eaters must donate or raise $100 by September 12th to help Livable Streets achieve its fundraising goal of $75,000. To help spread the word and collect contributions, event participants are encouraged to set up personal fundraising pages. For more information on how to get started, please click here.
